Last Tuesday, Mississippi voters nominated Democratic incumbent Gov. Ronnie Musgrove and Republican challenger Haley Barbour to lead their political parties into the Nov. 4 general election.
On election night, when most of the votes were counted, Musgrove held a private dinner with a small group of supporters that was closed to the media. Barbour held a public gathering to celebrate his GOP primary victory and thank his supporters.
What Barbour said is worth repeating today and here is the text of his remarks:
In a political climate where too many politicians think they can build themselves up by tearing their opponent down, it was good to see Barbour taking the high road.
