The Lady Tigers of Southeast played well on Saturday at Northeast Park, but the squad could only come away with one win in two attempts.
Southeast played solid slow-pitch softball and beat Wayne County 14-0 in its first game of the day and played well but fell to Quitman 7-1 in its second game.
Quitman struck first in the game by scoring a run in the top of the first inning.
Autumn Satcher singled and Gabby Morgan walked. After a fielder's choice, Sasha Phillips singled to load the bases. Amanda Herring ripped a single to make the score 1-0.
Southeast looked to tie the game in the second inning, as Heather Ward singled and Eli Bowen followed with a single later in the inning. Tamra Harrison singled to bring Ward around but the run did not cross the plate before the runner was thrown out at third and the score remained 1-0.
Quitman picked up two runs in the third inning. Satcher singled and Morgan doubled. Rebecca Riley followed with a long double to bring in the two runs and make the score 3-0.
The Lady Panthers added three more runs in the fifth. Satcher singled and the shortstop could not handle a line drive by Morgan to give Quitman two runners on.
Riley again ripped the ball and brought in two runs with a triple to make the score 5-0. Phillips followed with a single to make the score 6-0.
The Lady Panthers scored their final run in the top of the seventh. Lindsey Martin, Satcher and Morgan each singled to start the inning and Riley walked to bring in the run to make the score 7-0.
Southeast scored its run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Laci Maxwell singled and later scored on a single by Megan McMullen to make the final score 7-1.
