Two Meridian residents remained in the Lauderdale County jail today after being arrested and charged by Meridian police in connection with the Sunday death of Marlon Maurice Davis.
Meridian Police Detective Darrell Theall said Bobby Chapman, 39, 3810 10th St., and Eric McDowell, 20, 2810 15th St., were arrested and charged with murder just after 3 p.m. Monday.
Theall said police have tried to interview the two suspects, but they didn't want to talk. Theall said Davis, 45, was killed in a fight at 1510 35th Ave. Sunday; police received the call at 9:16 p.m.
Meridian Police Detectives Joe Boswell, Joe Hoadley and Carl Merchant with the violent crimes unit of the Meridian Police Department arrested the suspects near 19th Street and 14th Avenue.
An autopsy is expected to be performed later today to determine the official cause of Davis' death. Theall said no weapons were used and no motive for the crime has been established.
