The Mississippi Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin work today replacing eight bridges on U.S. 11 in Lauderdale County south of Interstate 20/59.
The bridges are north of the Lauderdale County-Clarke County line and just south of the entrance to the Meridian Regional Airport. The entire section of U.S. 11 affected by the work will be closed.
Motorists driving between Clarke County and Meridian must use Interstate 59 and I-20/59. Clark County motorists heading north on U.S. 11 can reach I-59 by taking Highway 514.
Central District Transportation Commissioner Dick Hall has said the $5 million construction project will last about 15 months.
For more about traffic alerts or other highway information, call the Mississippi Department of Transportation External Affairs Division at (601) 359-7017.
