No one told Gary Lee it would be easy.
The first-year head coach of the Clarkdale Bulldogs started the season on a sour note last Thursday, suffering a 19-7 loss against West Lauderdale.
Now 0-1, Clarkdale faces a week of practice abbreviated by the Labor Day holiday on Monday as it prepare for a visit from the Enterprise Bulldogs on Thursday night.
Enterprise faces the same challenge, but unlike Clarkdale, Enterprise played last week on Friday night. Head coach Joel Speed said that forces his team to hasten its preparation for a tough Clarkdale team.
After giving up 268 rushing yards to West Lauderdale last week, Clarkdale will look to slow down an Enterprise running game that tallied over 200 yards last week against Southeast Lauderdale.
Speed said his game plan may not be a secret, but it can still be effective.
Lee said there will likely be personnel changes on defense to counter the Enterprise rushing attack.
Speed said he hopes to improve his team's blocking and eliminate miscues during the short week.
Lee said he expects his team to improve every week and to cut down on sloppy play.
