Pianist Stanislav Ioudenitch will be the guest performer Saturday at the first concert of Meridian Symphony Orchestra's 2003-04 season.
The concert will be at 8 p.m. in the McCain Theater in Ivy Hall on the Meridian Community College Campus. This performance also will feature slides of artist Walter Anderson's work with music for a complete "Anderson Experience."
A pre-concert reception will be Saturday from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Meridian Museum of Art. There, John Marshall, Meridian Community College art instructor and curator of the Casteel Gallery, will speak about Anderson's life and influences.
MSO Conductor Claire Fox Hillard will also speak about the musical selections and why he chose them for the performance.
Following the reception, the symphony will present the "Walter Anderson Centennial Concert."
Ioudenitch, a Van Cliburn gold medalist, will also be available to answer questions from the audience at the museum's gathering.
The MSO will conclude the performance with Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, which Anderson referred to as one of his favorite works. For information, call the MSO office at 693-2224.
