Meridian Community College wrapped up a week-long home stand with a split in local junior college soccer action on Saturday.
The MCC men's team concluded the week with an impressive 8-0 shutout win over East Central, but the women dropped a 4-0 decision to Shelton State. Meridian returns to action Tuesday with a pair of matches at Mississippi Gulf Coast. The first game is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Eagles used a four-goal performance from Brandon Rogers to take the shutout win over the Warriors. MCC head coach Alex George was very impressed with his team's performance.
The first goal for the Eagles was drained by Rogers with 42:13 to give Meridian a very quick lead at 1-0. Rogers followed up his first goal with the second with 40:12 to extend the MCC lead to 2-0.
The hat trick would then be recorded with 30:47 left in the first half by Rogers to bring the score to 3-0 thanks to a great crossover pass from Joseph Murphy. Rogers finished the outstanding performance by notching his fourth goal with 27:14 to build the lead to 4-0 .
Byran Bledsoe joined in on the scoring with a goal at the 42:11 mark to make the score 5-0. Jay Barry added a goal, while John Irby tallied a pair of goals late in the final period to hand Meridian the home win over ECCC.
Shelton St. (women) 4
Meridian 0
The Shelton State Lady Buccaneers earned its second win over the Lady Eagles by a final score of 4-0. The other win against Meridian was also in shutout fashion by a final count of 5-0. The only goal of the first period came from Krista McMillan with 42:17 to give the Lady Buccaneers a 1-0 edge after a period of play.
McMillan collected her second goal to open the second half and push the lead over Meridian 2-0. Brooklyn Lewis and Maria Lizcano added a goal apiece to round out the Lady Buccaneer offense.
