Ms. Harris, 93, of Quitman, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital in Quitman. She served in the Clarke County Circuit Clerk's office for more than 40 years 24 of those years as the elected circuit clerk. She was an honorary lifetime member of the Mississippi Circuit Clerk's Association. Ms. Evie was also a long time member of the "Elizabeth Mason," Chapter No. 248 Order of Eastern Star, serving in several official capabilities including Worthy Matron.
Survivors include her grandson, Tommy Gene Dearmond Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Canyon Country, Calif.; a great-granddaughter, Pamela Lynn D. Chambers and her husband, Jason, and her children, Adam and Brittany of Wheatland, Calif.; nephews, Ron Herrington and his wife, Sandra, of Gadsden, Ala., and Evan M. Herrington Jr. and his wife, Lynn, of Birmingham, Ala.; nieces, Dorothy Herrington Lambert and her husband, Sebe, of Jayess, Faye Carol Baskett Smith and her husband, Gary, of Meridian; a sister-in-law, Christine Harris of Quitman and her children, Mike Harris and his wife, Diane, of Meridian and Barbara Harris Porter of Madison; and many other great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Madison and Martha Jane Long Herrington; her husband, Julian Edgar Harris; a daughter, Dolores H. Dearmond and her husband, Tommy Gene Sr.; a grandson, Donald Morris Dearmond; brothers, Clarence Herrington and his wife, Erleine, George Herrington, Collins B. Herrington and his wife, Mae, Evan M. Herrington Sr. and his wife, Leila, and J.W. Herrington and his wife, Mary; sisters, Grace Herrington, Wynola Jane H. Dunnam and her husband, Ledger, Euncie Mable H. Curtis and her husband, Don; a nephew, C.V. Herrington Jr.; a niece, Martha Jane H. Wingfield; brothers-in-law, Archie Harris and his wife, Alma, and Billy E. Harris; and a sister-in-law, Mabel Harris Baskett and her husband, Lawrence.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Pallbearers will be Sebe Lambert, Billy R. Kemp, L.D. "Sonny" Young III, Harvey Underwood, S.W. "Bud" Dew, Glyn E. Jones Sr., Todd Kemp and Mike Evans.
Honorary pallbearer will be Roy Dearmond.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Tommie Creed Cheatham will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Chris Vowell, Alex Lawson and Dr. Dan Howard officiating. Masonic graveside burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mr. Cheatham, 71, of Philadelphia, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, in his home. He was a native and lifelong resident of Philadelphia. He was a charter member of Beacon Street Baptist Church. He was a member Philadelphia Masonic No. 93 and the Eastern Star serving as past patron. He was a veteran of Korea and was a member of the American Legion, where he served as commander. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Nell Cheatham of Philadelphia; a daughter, Reina Coats and her husband, Benjie; sons, Robbie Cheatham and his wife, Pam, and Kevin Cheatham and his wife, Jackie; two grandchildren, Ross Cheatham and Benjamin Cheatham, all of Philadelphia.
Pallbearers will be Randy Cheatham, Dwight Cheatham, Dustin Cheatham, Chris Cheatham, Charles Williams, Jerry Williams, Ross Cheatham and Benjamin Cheatham.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside services for James D. Caraway will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Caraway, 80, of Meridian, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
QUITMAN Services for Knox Stephen Kirkland will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mr. Kirkland of Quitman, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, in York, Ala.
Survivors include his daughters, Haley and Heather; his wife, Teresa; a sister, Ann Moody; nephews, Ryan and Randy Moody, and Alex Bell; a great-nephew, Griggs Grissom; a great-niece, Annelise Grissom, and Pat; and several cousins.
Visitation will be today beginning at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services for Lonzo Meredith will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at 31st Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. S.L. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Shucktown. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Meredith, 98, of Meridian, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at the V.A. Hospital in Jackson.
Survivors include a sister, Christine Chamberlain of Cleveland, Ohio; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a daughter.
Visitation will be Wednesday 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Marie Kelley will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Ms. Kelley, 88, of Marion, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
LOUISVILLE Services for Willie "Bob" Hudson will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hudson of Preston, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003.
Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
