On stage with the president

Two fine people from Meridian had speaking roles from the stage when President Bush keynoted a fund-raising luncheon for Republican gubernatorial nominee Haley Barbour in Jackson on Friday retired U.S. Rep. Sonny Montgomery and Craig Ziemba.
Ziemba, pilot, author, newspaper columnist and erstwhile radio talk show guest, challenged the party faithful along traditional conservative lines. Montgomery led the Pledge of Allegiance and was singled out for special praise by the president, who is the son of one of Montgomery's closest friends former President George Bush.
Both Montgomery and Ziemba represented their city well and we're delighted that the Barbour campaign decided to include this Meridian connection in the program.
