Christiana Lynne McLeod and Parker Ford Leggett were married Saturday, June 14, 2003, at First Baptist Church in Laurel with the Revs. Dr. Randall Warren Turner and Rodney Glenn Ward officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Innis McLeod of Quitman, and Dr. and Mrs. Kent Bonwell Leggett of Laurel.
Grandparents of the bride are Minnie Etta Smith of Enterprise and the late Henry Clay Boman; Mrs. Innis Red McLeod of Quitman and the late Mr. McLeod.
The bridegroom is the grandson of Mrs. Glen LaRue Stanislaus and the late Mr. Stanislaus, the late Shirley Webster Leggett and Dr. Thomas Ford Leggett Jr., all of Laurel.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Margaret Evans, pianist; Dr. Graham Purkerson, organists; Dr. Jesse Smith and Rachel Griffin, vocalists.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a two-piece strapless satin gown with embroidered applique beaded with rocals, seed pearls and sequins accenting the asymmetrical waistline. The A-line skirt featured a scalloped embroidered hemline that swept into a chapel-length train. Her fingertip veil was anchored by a tiara of pearls and crystals. The wedding band of the bride's great-great-grandmother was fastened to the hemline of the gown.
Laura Jean Lay served as maid of honor. Other attendants were Ashley Cherie Higdon, Leslie Celine Higdon and Elizabeth Danielle Miller, all cousins of the bride, Hillary Kent Leggett, sister of the bridegroom, Rachel Gay Griffin, Courtney Lynn Stroud and Leslie Haynes Thrash.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Joe Innis McLeod II, brother of the bride, William Wilson Boone, Peeler Grayson Lacey Jr., Mitchell Shuff Mauldin, William Lavonne Pitts, Truitt Austin Taylor, Dax Tipton Yoder, Patrick Glen Anderson, cousin of the bridegroom, Ryan Dennis Higdon, cousin of the bride, Stephen Reid Guy Jr., Corey Ryan Jones, Paul Michael Read and Nelson Lee Valentine.
Program attendants were Jonathon Grant Shirley, Jeffrey Hearn Steinwinder and Neal Myrick Steinwinder.
Attending the bride's book were Megan Tia Johnson and Jennifer Louise McGonagill.
A reception was held at the Laurel Country Club following the ceremony.
Assisting at the reception were Dr. and Mrs. Peeler Lacey, Mr. and Mrs. Mitch Mauldin and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Shirley, Cherie Higdon, Sandra Long, Joyce Mars, Marilyn Taormina and Britanny Diane Spears.
On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Laurel Country Club.
Following a honeymoon to Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico, the couple resides in Oxford, where the bridegroom is in law school and the bride is in the master's degree program at the E.H. Patterson School of Accountancy at the University of Mississippi.
