Current blood supplies have exceeded critical levels. United Blood Services is not able to meet the needs of area hospitals.
Blood supplies at Rush Foundation Hospital and Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center have been depleted, and requests for blood from other area hospitals can not be met. An auto accident victim, a gastrointestinal surgical patient and a heart patient in Meridian are in critical need of blood at this time and there is no blood available.
Type O positive and O negative blood are in desperate demand.
Without the support of the community in the next 24 hours, lives will be lost due. All eligible donors, especially O positive and O negative, are asked to please come to the Meridian donor center, at 1115 25th Ave., and give blood.
