Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Merideth Swearingen Jr. of Collinsville announce the engagement of their daughter, Tory Merideth Suzann, to Michael Joseph Shirley, son of Ricky Joe and Debbie Shirley of Causeyville, and Elaine Murdoch of Pensacola, Fla.
The wedding will be Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at 6 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church in Causeyville.
Miss Swearingen is the granddaughter of Maloneze Swearingen of Meridian and the late Aubrey M. Swearingen Sr.; the late Frances McDonald Johnson of Collinsville and the late Albert Ray Snowden of Houston, Texas.
The bride-elect is a 1995 graduate of West Lauderdale High School and received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Mississippi. She received her master's degree in school counseling in 2003.
Miss Swearingen is pursuing a specialist degree at Mississippi State University-Meridian campus. She is employed by Mississippi State University in Starkville as part of the CREATE for Mississippi project.
Mr. Shirley is the grandson of Martin Shirley of Causeyville and the late Janell Shirley; Imelda Powell of Causeyville and the late Gether Smith.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Clarkdale High School and is employed with Ricky Joe Shirley Construction.
