WYLS celebrates 33rd anniversary

YORK, Ala. WYLS AM 670 celebrates its 33rd anniversary today with an open house and special broadcast scheduled from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
The radio station's studios are located at 11474 Highway 11.
Station Manager Tim Craddock said the station's first broadcast day was Nov. 22, 1970, although it was with different call letters, a different frequency and power at the time. The station operates now with 5,000 watts and has offices, studios and transmitter in York and a studio in Meridian.
The open house features a three-hour broadcast that will include some segments from the original broadcast. Former on-air personalities will also participate, Craddock said.
