East Central Community College will be home to largest area basketball tourney

Twelve area schools will be participating in the annual East Central Classic which gets under way Monday at East Central Community College in Decatur.
Games will be played in both the Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium and the South Campus Gymnasium.
Returning as defending champions are the West Lauderdale Knights and Lady Knights.
The Knights defeated Northeast Lauderdale 62-44 in the 2002 boys' championship contest, while the Lady Knights routed Newton County 74-48 in the girls' title game.
Monday's girls' contests have Union taking on Scott Central and Lake facing Morton at 4 p.m. At 7 p.m., Neshoba Central takes on Forest and Newton County squares off with Enterprise.
Boys' action on Monday opens at 5:30 p.m. with Neshoba Central playing Lake and Union meeting Newton. The 8:30 p.m. contests have Southeast Lauderdale facing Scott Central and Northeast Lauderdale playing Enterprise.
The tournament, the largest in east central Mississippi, will run through Saturday.
