Meridian golfers help North capture victory

Five golfers from Meridian helped the North Cup team pick up its third straight Junior Cup Matches title last Saturday and Sunday.
Reid Kennedy, Clay Bounds, Chad Bounds, Elliott Tramontana and Easton Key helped the North squad tally a 41.5-18.5 victory over the South Cup squad in the two-day tournament at the Beau Pre Country Club in Natchez. In singles matches on Sunday, all five Meridian representatives picked up wins for the the North by sweeping all the points from their South counterparts. Each match was worth three points in the tournament.
Kennedy defeated Ben Mobley of Clinton to earn three points for the South, and Clay Bounds also picked up three points for his team with a win over Adam Doleac of Hattiesburg.
Tramontana swept past the South's Cory Williamson of Collins to pick up another three points for the North, and Chad Bounds defeated Biloxi's Jesse Becker to collected all the points in their match.
Key rounded out the Meridian players' day with a sweep over Hunter Hood of Wesson.
In four-ball match play, Clay Bound partnered with Chase Smith of Vicksburg to defeat Jonathan Randolph and Doleac to pickup 2 1/2 points for the North team.
Chad Bounds and Thomas Watkins of Madison split the available points with the the team of Keith McWilliams and Cory Williamson to give each squad 1 1/2.
Tramontana paired with Carthage's Conner Herrington to score a sweep over Jesse Becker and Payne Dearman for three points.
Key and his partner Keland Johnson of Forest swept their South team counterparts, Blake Price and James Michael Patti, for three points on Saturday.
Kennedy and Will Crowley of Enid picked up one point to South's Michael Gregory and James Wahl IV two in the other four-ball match involving a player from Meridian.
