MCC to host math competition

Meridian Community College will host the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics District Junior High Math Competition beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday.
Students placing first and second in middle school math competition will progress to the Lauderdale District Competition at MCC.
About 25 students and teachers from Northeast Middle School, Lamar, Magnolia Middle School, Northwest Junior High and Clarkdale Attendance Center are expected to attend the event.
Each student winner will participate in a math competition in Ivy Hall. The competition will be followed by a tour of the MCC campus and an awards luncheon in Montgomery Hall.
All of the participants will receive a district certificate. The third-place winner will be given a ribbon. The first- and second-place winners will receive plaques and progress to the state competition.
