Knights win, still unbeaten

Bo Davis scattered six hits over seven innings and struck out 10 in West Lauderdale's 7-0 win over previously unbeaten Union on Monday.
Davis, who walked one batter during his seven innings, helped the Knights keep their perfect record at 9-0.
Tyler Vick provided a third of West Lauderdale's nine runs on a three-run homer. Drew Snider hit a double and a single, and Jay Warren, Parker Temple and Paxton Pace each had two singles.
Union is 5-1.
West Lauderdale visits Southeast Lauderdale tonight, before hosting Choctaw Central on Friday night and Saturday night.
The Knights also visit Union for a Saturday afternoon game.
Enterprise 3
Newton Co. 2
The Bulldogs used a great pitching performance from Wade Weathers to take a slim one-run win over Newton County last week. Adam Simpson led Enterprise at the plate with a double and Anthony Rawson also added a double for the Bulldogs.
Jared Cavenaugh led the Cougars with a double and Josh Pender took the loss on the mound for Newton County.
Enterprise pays a visit to Northeast Lauderdale today.
Wayne County 6
West Jones 4
The War Eagles held off a late seventh inning rally from West Jones to hold on for the win. Justin Solomon took the pitching win for Wayne County and improved to 1-1 for the season.
Wayne County also moved its record to 3-4 with the win.
Lake 7
McLaurin 5
Lake was able to walk away with a two-run win despite only collecting six hits against McLaurin. The Hornets did get a solid pitching performance from Kyle Wolfe to pace Lake to the win.
Wolfe moved his record to 1-0 and the Hornets improved to 4-2 for the season.
Lowndes Aca. 10
Lamar 0
Lamar School fell to Lowndes Academy 10-0 on Saturday at the Patrician Academy tournament in Alabama. Parker Payne had a double for the Raiders.
Lamar 10
West Alabama Prep 0
In their second game of the day at Patrician Academy, Lamar rallied from an earlier loss by racing past West Alabama Prep 10-0. Drew Moffett had three hits, including a home run, and Blake Olmstead had a double.
PREP SOFTBALL
Meridian 7-12
Hattiesburg 2-0
Brandy Limerick picked up two wins on Monday, including a shutout and a 16-strikeout performance, as Meridian swept a doubleheader from Hattiesburg.
Limerick, who is 7-2 after the victories, picked up all but five outs on strikeouts in the first game. Tiffany Hickman had two hits and Carsheena Blanks hit a triple in the Lady Wildcats' 7-2 win.
In the second game, Meridian picked up eight runs in the first inning before running away with a 12-0 win. Hickman had a double, and Limerick allowed just one hit.
The Lady Wildcats play a make-up game today against Newton County at 4 p.m., and then meet Northeast Lauderdale in a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.
Clarkdale 20
Sebastopol 10
Ten runs in the first inning will go a long way.
Clarkdale reached double digits in the top of the first and never looked back in a 20-10 win over division rival Sebastopol on Monday.
The Lady Bulldogs led 20-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth when Sebastopol reeled off 10 runs.
Emily Howard pitched a one-hitter in the Clarkdale win. Megan Potate, Kim Seale and Lindsay Dawkins each had two hits for the Lady Bulldogs, Sabrina Woodall went 3-for-3 and Whitney Brachenburg smashed a grand slam.
Clarkdale is 4-1 overall and 2-0 in division play.
