Northeast grabs two from Newton

Northeast Lauderdale swept Newton in a baseball doubleheader on Saturday.
The Trojans won the opening game 4-1 and the second game 13-2 to improve to 9-3 for the season. Newton fell to 2-6.
Northeast pitcher Nathan Peden picked up the win in game one, allowing one run on two hits while striking out 11 in seven innings of work.
Mark Snyder went 2-for-3 with one RBI for the Trojans in the first game, and Howard Ruffin accounted for Newton's lone run, hitting a solo homer.
Jeremy Barnacastle picked up the win for Northeast in the second game, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out four in two innings. He also hit a two-run home run in a 2-for-3 plate performance with four RBIs.
Chad Brunson went 3-for-4 for the Trojans with two RBIs, and Cory Chance hit a triple and collected two RBIs. Newton's Jeffery Logan went 3-for-3.
Louisville 14
Newton Co. 10
Louisville picked up a win over Newton County (5-6) on Saturday, with Barry Doss picking up the win for the Wildcats on the mound.
Greg Pillsbury collected four hits for Newton County, and Will Pearson and Brandon Williams each had two hits.
Keith Edwards and Ken Coleman each had three hits for Louisville, and Josh Black, Cody Kelley and Carey Miller each had two hits.
Neshoba Central 10
Philadelphia 3
Philadelphia fell to 6-4 for the season with a loss to Neshoba Central (6-5) on Saturday.
Scott Fieber took the win on the mound for Neshoba Central, and Chas McClain took the loss for Philadelphia, falling to 2-2 for the season. Bubba Boler hit three singles for Philadelphia, and Landon Gilmer recorded a double and a single.
Michael Smith hits three singles and a double for Neshoba Central, and Tyler Atkins hit a single and a triple.
Wayne County 7
Clarkdale 4
Wayne County rallied from a three-run deficit to take a 7-4 win at Clarkdale on Saturday.
Clarkdale (4-5) got two hits from Brent Mabry and home runs from Kurt Singley and Kyle Boswell. Singley (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher.
Dillon Boyles got the win for Wayne County, which got a homer from Gordon Raygents and two hits from Justin Soloman.
Newton Co. Aca. 12
Lamar 10
Blake Hedrick went 2-for-4 and hit a key double in the seventh inning to stave off a late Lamar rally and pull out a 12-10 win for Newton County Academy. Brad Harrison picked up the win for NCA, now 7-1 on the year. Hedrick had two RBIs, as did Sam Thames, who also went 2-for-4 with a double. Lee Blackburn hit a home run and a single and finished with three RBIs.
Neshoba Central 9
Newton Co. 8
Travis Bulter picked up the win on the mound for Neshoba Central in a prep baseball game late Friday. Neshoba Central improved to 5-5 for the year, and Newton County fell to 5-5.
Greg Pillsbury collected three hits and two RBIs for Newton County, and Josh Sheehan added a pair of singles. Justin Farmer hit a double and collected two RBIs for Newton County, and Robert Westbrook hit a solo home run.
Taylor Pett, Scott Fever and David Gofourth each had two singles for Neshoba Central.
JUCO BASEBALL
Delgado 7, EMCC 1
Delgado 2, EMCC 1
East Mississippi Community College (5-12) dropped both games of a doubleheader against Delgado on Saturday, losing 7-2 in the opener and 5-1 in the second game.
Steve Boyd (0-1) picked up the loss for the Lions in the first game, in which East Mississippi out-hit Delgado 6-5 but committed three errors. In the second game, Jonathan Russell fell to 1-3 in the loss. East Mississippi had just two hits.
