Hedrick leads NCA to 7-1 win

Blake Hedrick struck out eight and surrendered just four hits for Newton County Academy on Monday in a 7-1 win over Central Academy.
Sam Thames, Morgan Craven and John Shellenback each hit a double and a single for NCA. Craven had an RBI, and Shellenback tallied two RBIs.
Newton County Academy is now 11-2 overall and 3-1 in district play.
PREP SOFTBALL
West Lauderdale 10
Louisville 3
West Lauderdale picked up a 10-3 win over Louisville on Monday.
Brooke Lee led the Lady Knights with a 3-for-4 effort from the plate.
West Lauderdale plays again tonight at Newton County.
JUCO BASEBALL
Gulf Coast 7
EMCC 4
East Mississippi Community College surrendered five runs in the ninth inning before losing 7-4 to Gulf Coast on Sunday.
The Lions, now 6-16, led 4-2 after the eighth inning before losing in the make-up game. Steve Boyd (0-2) took the loss for East Mississippi.
Justin Faulkner hit a two-run homer for the Lions in the third inning.
PREP GOLF
Lamar School had four golfers at 80 or under on Monday to lead the Raiders to a five-stroke win at the Oak Hill Academy Invitational.
J.T. Williamson, medalist for the tournament, shot a 76, and was followed closely by Derek Smith's 77. Nick Brown shot 79 and Leigh Phillips finished at 80.
Clay Bounds and Reid Kennedy each shot 87.
The Raiders finished at 312, five strokes better than host Oak Hill. Winston Academy finished third with 328. Leake Academy had 343, Heritage Academy had 366 and Central shot 369.
