Clarkdale tallies win

The Lady Bulldogs opened the Clinton Tournament on Saturday with a narrow two-run win over Kosciusko. Emily Howard took the win on the mound for Clarkdale.
Savannah Satcher led the way at the plate with two hits including a triple, and Megan Potate added a double.
Clarkdale 15
Mize 4
Clarkdale had no problems in the second day of the tournament by collecting 11 hits in a win over Mize.
Emily Howard had two hits in the game including a double, and Alyssa Bye added two doubles.
Clarkdale 13
Union 0
The Lady Bulldogs got a shutout pitching performance from Tessa Gamble in the third game of the Clinton Tournament to cruise to the win over Union.
Casey Meador led the way with three singles for the Lady Bulldogs, and Alyssa Bye added a double.
Clarkdale 4
Grenada 0
Clarkdale ended the tournament undefeated in its pool with a four-run win over Grenada. Kim Seale had four singles, and Sabrina Woodall added two singles.
PREP SLOW-PITCH SOFTBALL
Parklane 10-10
Lamar 6-0
Lamar dropped a pair of games to Parklane on Tuesday.
Lizzie Williams went 3-for-4 in the opening game for Lamar, and Julia Covington and Bailey Barham each collected a pair of hits for the Lady Raiders.
Williams went 3-for-3 at the plate in the second game.
JUCO BASEBALL
Shelton St. 14
EMCC 7
East Mississippi Community College fell to 8-19 for the season with a loss to Shelton State on Tuesday.
The Lions had a 4-1 lead in the third inning, but Shelton State battled back scoring six runs in the third and never trailed again.
David Nanney notched a single and a double for EMCC, and Justin Faulkner had a pair of hits, including a solo homer.
Nathan Mordecai and Trent Thompson each recorded two hits and an RBI for the Lions.
PREP GOLF
West Lauderdale posted a 299 to win the Southeast Lauderdale Invitational last Friday.
Clarkdale recorded a 348; Quitman scored a 354 and Southeast notched a 398.
West's Ross McWilliams was the invitational's medalist with a 71. Jarrod Moulds scored a 74, and Shane Parker and L.J. Robinson each shot 77.
Brian Tomerlin recorded a 75 for Clarkdale, and Dusty Webb and Brandon Blackledge each finished with 86. Josh Smith notched a 101.
Dustin Lee scored an 84 for Quitman, and Blake Palmer and Michael DePhillips each finished with 89. Matthew DePhillips notched a 92.
Justin Scarbrough finished with a 91 for Southeast, and Kevin Davis scored 100. Josh Johnson notched a 102, and Ben Bigelow scored a 105.
PREP TENNIS

Carthage 0
Newton County (10-2) swept past Carthage in prep tennis action on Monday.
Kennard Johnson won in boys singles for Newton County, defeating Jeremy Fortenberry 6-2, 6-1, and Kalen Anderson won the girls singles by default.
Newton County's Noah Cook and Devarus Walker combined to defeat Caleb Shepard and Richie Long 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 in boys doubles, and Lauren McDonald and Dru Anderson defeated Shelly Osborne and Alice Martin 6-0, 6-0 in girls doubles.
Josh Cook and Maggie McDill picked up a mixed doubles win for Newton County by default.

Newton County lost just its second tennis match of the season to Florence on Monday.
Kalen Anderson picked up a win for Newton County in girls singles action, with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Laura Lineberry. Newton County's Lauren McDonald and Elise Gibbs combined to defeated Kristin Kelly and Blaire Bishoff 6-3, 6-2 for a girls doubles win.
Florence's Andrew Brewer defeated Ben Wallace 6-0, 6-0 in boys singles, and Phillip Bailey and Derrick Lee picked up a win in boys doubles for Florence, with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Devarus Walker and Darrius Walker.
Florence's Barbara Ross and Alex Gibbs won the mixed doubles match 7-6, 7-6 over Kennard Johnson and Maggie McDill
