Mental Health Matters: Free information fair

Area mental health organizations are teaming up to provide information on mental health topics and resources.
The event, titled "Mental Health Matters for a Healthy Life," will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the East Mississippi Electric Power Association auditorium, 2128 Highway 39 N., in Meridian.
The national theme for Mental Health Month is "Mental Health Matters in Your Life." Many people still misunderstand mental health, according to McElroy.
The information fair is sponsored by Weems Community Mental Health Center, the local chapter of the National Association for the Mentally Ill and the Lauderdale County Mental Health Association as part of the annual celebration of Mental Health Month.
People are invited to stop by to learn more about stress, substance abuse and other mental health topics. They can also participate in confidential, free screenings for depression, anxiety and stress and take home materials on a variety of topics.
