Services for Ransom Lafayette Mayfield Sr. were to be held today at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Marcus Finch and the Rev. Mike Russell officiating. Burial was to be in Clear Creek Cemetery in Taylorsville.
Mr. Mayfield, 84, of Meridian, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, in his home. He was a retired office supply salesman and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Vance Mayfield; daughters, Kay Mayfield O'Shaughnessy of Meridian and Regina M. Ueltschey and her husband, C.M. "Chuck," of Gulfport; sons, Ransom F. Mayfield Jr. and his wife, Beverly Magee Mayfield, of Hartford, Ala., Henry N. Mayfield and his wife, Elysia Garver Mayfield, of North Yorkshire, England, and John Olin Mayfield and his wife, Mary Henley Mayfield, of Babenhausen, Germany; 11 grandchildren, C.M. "Chip" Ueltschey III and his wife, Paige, of Austin, Texas, Claire Marie Ueltschey of Norfolk, Va., A. Lee Ueltschey of Gulfport, Ransom L. Mayfield III, Brandon K. Mayfield and Marissa Lee Mayfield, all of Hartford, A. Kate Mayfield of Lexington, Ky., Jonathan D. Mayfield and Marlena V. Mayfield, both of North Yorkshire, Joshua R. Mayfield and John D. Mayfield, both of Babenhausen; and one great-grandchild, C.M. "Chase" Ueltschey IV.
The family requests memorials be made to French Camp Academy, One Fine Place, French Camp, Mississippi.

Services for Rosie L. James will be held today at 11 a.m. at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. James, 79, of Meridian, died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters Doris Moffite and her husband George, Mary Hannah Emerson and her husband Ralph and Fredna Cole and her husband Curtis, all of Meridian; grandchildren, Alicia Smith and Patrick Lushon Smith, both of Jackson, Michael Smith of Alabama, Angela H. Johnson and Jessica Graham, both of Meridian; a great-grandchild, Cederian Owens; several cousins, friends, and adopted grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Annie James.

Graveside services for Martha Burns Burton will be held Today at 1 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Randall officiating. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burton, 68, of Meridian, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a homemaker. She was a loving and gracious mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Othell Burton of Meridian; her children Mark Holcombe and his wife, Carolyn, Tim Boutwell and Keith Holcombe, all of Meridian; grandchildren Cherish Smith and her husband, Mike, of Arkansas, Joshua Holcombe of Oxford and Emily Holcombe, Jeremy Holcombe and Kayla Boutwell, all of Meridian; five great-grandchildren; her sisters Avis Whitney of Guntersville, Ala., Wilda Hawkins and her husband, Ed, of Saraland, Ala., and Joyce Strawser of Danville, Ill.; and a brother Doyle Hitt of Mobile, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents, O.T. Hitt and Sudie Pratt; a brother, Thomas E. Hitt and a sister, Nina Wilkerson Mabry.
Pallbearers will be Mike Smith, Josh Holcombe, Ronnie Wilkerson, Bill Boutwell, Billy Covington and Sandy Singleton.

NEWTON Services for Samuel Kenneth Chaney will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Richard Ethridge, Dennis Kennedy and Clifton Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
Mr. Chaney, 82, of Decatur, died Monday, May 31, 2004, in Decatur. He was a member of Clark Venable Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men's Bible class. He worked for more than 20 years at Walton Brothers Hardware, then at Lay-Z-Boy and retired after more than 17 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruby Elizabeth Pierce Chaney of Decatur; a son, Kenneth M. Chaney and his wife, Beth, of Decatur; a daughter, Pat C. Hollingsworth and her husband, Raymond, of Newton; grandchildren, Michelle Addy and her husband, J.R., Michael S. Chaney, Marian Roncalli and her husband, Carlos, Chris Hollingsworth and his wife, Dawn, Clay Hollingsworth and his wife, Mandi, and Chaney Hollingsworth; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Ina Laird and her husband, Wilbur, of Little Rock; brothers, Ray Chaney of Meridian, Bill Chaney and his wife, Louise, of Jackson; several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom and Ben Chaney; sisters, Dot Parker and Bonny McLelland.
Pallbearers will be Chris Hollingsworth, Clay Hollingsworth, Mike Chaney, J.R. Addy, Scotty Russell, Carlos Roncalli and Doyle Chaney. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Green, J.E. Blunt, Lain Spears, Kenneth Jones, James Horton and Grover Shoemaker.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Robert Glynn "Rob" White Jr. will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Phillip Williams and Wyatt Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Pine Springs Southern Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. White, 25, of Meridian, died Friday, May 28, 2004, in Clarke County.
Survivors include his children, Robert Glynn "Lil Rob" White III and Bailey LeAnn White of Enterprise; his mother, Nickie White of Meridian; sisters, Deanna Mathison and her husband, Marc, of Weatherford, Texas, and Tammy Zachery and her husband, Scott, of Russell; nieces and nephews, Justin Carter, Sommer White, Dakota Zachery and Zach; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Glynn White Sr.
Pallbearers will be Justin Dearing, Troy Odom, Kris Brumfield, Andrew Franklin, Jason Shelby and Bobby Odom.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Sara Whitehead, 78, of Meridian, who died Monday, May 31, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Elige Rash, 67, of Meridian, who died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Arrangements were incomplete for Ruth "Maggie" Mowbray Haggett Barbour, 84, of Meridian, who died Saturday, May 29, 2004, in her home.
