Rick Young named EMCC president

Rick Young, vice president of the Golden Triangle Campus of East Mississippi Community College, has been named president of EMCC by the college's board.
Young, who has spent 23 years as a senior level administrator at EMCC, will begin his new position July 1.
As vice president, Young oversaw the overall operations of the Golden Triangle Campus. He established and implemented the first community college distance learning lab in Mississippi during the early 1990s and participated in the expansion to on-line classes.
He was instrumental in establishing the first Center for Manufacturing Technology Excellence in the state of Mississippi to enhance workforce training and economic development.
In the past seven years, the Golden Triangle campus has experienced an enrollment increase of 454 percent.
Young has a doctorate in educational leadership with a concentration in community college administration, a masters in education, and a bachelor of science in marketing all from Mississippi State University.
Young and his wife, Melinda, will move to the Scooba Campus in July.
