The team of Steve Hampton and Andy Mayatt were nearly as hot as Saturday's temperatures in the first round of the Boy Scouts Benefit Golf Tournament at Briarwood Country Club.
Their 14-under-par 58 gave them a four-stroke lead heading into today's second-round action.
Hampton and Mayatt found the morning round to their liking as they had 10 birdies and two eagles. Both eagles came on par-5s, Nos. 4 and 8. They also birdied Nos. 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 15, 17 and 18.
