Flag disposal ceremony set

On Monday, the Meridian Branch No. 264 Fleet Reserve Association Shipmates will conduct a ceremony to dispose of unserviceable U.S. flags.
The ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 5 p.m. near the flag pole of the Meridian Fleet Reserve Association building at 8874 Highway 39 N. in Meridian. The public is invited to witness the procedure.
Shipmate President Jamie Hornsby, Chaplain William "Flash" Gordon, and Master-At-Arms James G. Moultrie will conduct the verbal part, while other shipmates, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and Pathfinders may assist.
Also, any other veteran who wishes to assist and take part with his or her own flag can call 482-5289.
In the event of wet or day weather, the ceremony will be postponed
