Carey Dinner Theatre at William Carey College in Hattiesburg has announced the productions for its 29th season. Founded in 1975, the dinner theater presents two musicals in June and July.
Opening the 2004 season will be "Pump Boys and Dinettes," a musical comedy set in rural Georgia, "somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna." It will be presented nightly except Sundays and Mondays, June 15 through July 3. "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," will be presented July 13 through 24.
Based on the Charles Schultz "Peanuts" comic strip, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" features Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Schroeder and Snoopy as they sing and dance their way through the modern musical classic.
The book, music and lyrics for "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," was written by Clark M. Gesner, with additional dialogue by Michael Mayer and additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa.
Dinner is served at 7 p.m. in the O.L. Quave Theatre on the Hattiesburg campus of William Carey College, and the performance follows.
Beginning June 7, the box office will be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and seats may be reserved by calling (601) 318-6221. The admission price of $20 includes the buffet meal, show and souvenir program book. For the third season the principal corporate sponsor will be BancorpSouth. W.A. Warren Construction Co. of Hattiesburg is co-sponsor.
