Services for Janie M. Ross were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jerry Bishop and Dr. Jimmy Williams officiating. Burial was to be in Blackwater Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Ross, 92, of Lauderdale, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at Beverly Health Care Center. She was a member of Blackwater Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Joe L. Ross of Lauderdale; a son, Gene Ross and his wife, Connie, of Lauderdale; a daughter, Carrie Ann Richardson and her husband, George, of Bailey; grandchildren, Craig Boyd and his wife, Leila, Bill Ross and his wife, Beverly, Mike Ross, Sheila Turner and her husband, Ken, and Susanne Sharp and her husband, Jayde; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Belle Rogers of Bailey and Juanita Engell of Gulfport; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be L.C. Hudnall, Taylor Davis, Joe Thompson, Ernie Watts, Harris Wilder and Al Turnipseed.

BUTLER, Ala. Services for Danny Neville Faile Jr. were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Witch Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Franklin McLelland officiating. Burial was to be in the church cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Faile, 33, of Butler, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, in Meridian.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Faile of Meridian; parents, Danny and Betty Faile of Butler; a brother, Dustin Faile of Meridian; a daughter, Danielle Nicole Faile and a son, Dillon Blake Faile, both of Meridian; and his maternal grandmother, Wilma Jackson Newton of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Roy Jackson; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Faile.

NEWTON Graveside services will be held today at 1 p.m. for Palmer McCurdy at New Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Rowzee officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McCurdy, 86, of Annandale, Va., died Monday, June 7, 2004, at Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Va.
Mr. McCurdy received his engineering degree from Stanford University in Stanford, Calif. He attended Yale University in New Haven, Conn., for his first year of engineering school and transferred to Stanford. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Lt. Cmdr. in 1952. At that time he was a gunnery officer at the Naval Air Station at Patuxent River, Md. He began his career as a research chemical engineer with Shell Development of Oakland, Calif. He worked for General Electric Research and Development and Ramo Wooldridge, in Woodland Hills, Calif. He also lived in Phoenix, Norco, La. and Annandale, Va. He was a member and the historian of the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry (ISPE).
Survivors include his son, Craig Boggan McCurdy and his wife, Judy, of Annandale, Va.; nephews, Scott Van Hofton and James Van Hofton of London, England.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Emma Boggan McCurdy; and a son, Kim Palmer McCurdy.
Pallbearers will be Noflet Bogan, Greg Boggan, Charles Boggan, Matthew Boggan, Frank Boggan and Wallace Bogan.

JACKSON Graveside services for John Magruder Martin Jr. will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian with the Rev. Jimmy Harrison officiating. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Martin, 88, of Jackson, formerly of Meridian, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was a veteran of the Fifth Armored Division and served in World War II.
Survivors include his sister, Emma M. Chambers of Ridgeland; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorials may be made to the National World War II Memorial, 2300 Clarendon Blvd. Suite 501, Arlington, VA 22201.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Deloris Garner will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pentecostal Memorial Garden Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Tisdale officiating. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Garner, 74, of Meridian, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, in her home.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty Young of Daleville, Josephine Simmons, Liz Michael, Sarah Abernathy and Dorothy Garner, all of Meridian, and Sharon Hill of Newman, Ga.; sons, Joseph Garner of Fairfax, Va., William Garner of Duluth, Ga., Robert Garner of Meridian, David Garner of Battle Creek, Mich. and John Garner of Orlando, Fla.; sisters, Louise Lofton, Ardell Brown and Virgie Barney, all of Toomsuba; two special granddaughters, Lesia Davis of Jackson and Shaylondia Simmons of Nashville, Tenn.; 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and special friends, Elise Cooley and Atlean Loyd, both of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and a sister.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
