Bounds dodges rain, takes lead at Northwood

The Northwood Junior Classic overcame weather problems and got off to a great start on Tuesday morning.
The event will conclude today with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m.
Clay Bounds jumped out to an early lead in the overall standings of the tournament by posting a 71.
The next closest competitors to Bounds finished the day with a 74. Justin Eaves, Joshua Ivy and Jerry Johnston all came around in 74 to trail by three strokes going into the final day.
Twenty-three golfers in three different age divisions are competing in the two-day tournament, which is put on by the Gulf States PGA.
In the 12-13 year old division, Joseph Henderson finished with an 80 in the first round to take the lead.
Daniel Deloach is in second in the division with a 98, and Caleb Stark shot a 107 to hold third.
In the 14-15 year old division, Bounds leads with his 71 and is followed by three golfers tied at 75.
Nicholas Brown, Elliott Tramontana and Jarrod Moulds came around in 75 and will try to pressure Bounds in the second round. Chase Smith is also in the mix after shooting a 76.
In the 16-18 year old division, Eaves, Ivy and Johnston lead with a 74. Reid Kennedy finished with a nice round of 75 to put himself in good position.
