Corrie Maxfield is the recipient of the Linda and Billy Howard Computer Technology Scholarship at Meridian Community College.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard funded the $1,200 award through the MCC Foundation. They own Howard Computers in Laurel.
Maxfield is a 1993 graduate of Cleveland High School in Queensland, Australia. He and his wife are the parents of two children.
A president's list scholar, Maxfield is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year college students.
He serves as parliamentarian for the local and state chapters of Phi Beta Lambda, an organization for business and computer students.
He will be a sophomore in computer network technology program. He works in the MCC Math Department as a student work-study.
Paige Marie Ammon of Collinsville has been selected to receive the Robert Cochran Memorial Scholarship at Meridian Community College.
Dr. and Mrs. Clarence Roberts funded this $500 award through the MCC Foundation.
It is given to a graduating sophomore at MCC who has achieved academic excellence and is continuing their education at Millsaps College or Mississippi State University.
Ammon was the 2002 salutatorian at West Lauderdale High School. A dean's list scholar, she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year college students.
She was an Ivy Scholarship nominee and was named to the MCC Foundation Circle of Excellence.
Ammon won Best in Show by capturing the John Michael Rushing Award at the 2003 MCC Student Art Show. She will attend Mississippi State University in the fall and will pursue a degree in graphic design.
The University of West Alabama awarded 240 students degrees at the end of the spring 2004 semester.
