Navy Junior ROTC cadets arrived at Naval Air Station Meridian on Sunday to attend a week-long basic leadership training camp.
The Area-08 cadets represent 41 schools from five states Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.
Cadets were chosen to attend the camp by their individual units. About 5 percent of the cadets are selected to attend the camp, said Susan Junkins with the NAS public affairs office.
The cadets are split into four platoons, which will each spend a day at Camp Binachi. At the camp, the cadets will participate in a team- and confidence-building course. They will learn map and compass orienteering and train in water safety.
A drill competition, where the platoons compete against one another in a judged contest, will culminate the camp on Friday.
