Warren said he sees a bright future for the 12-hour walk that raises money for the American Cancer Society.
The American Cancer Society's chief fundraiser is the annual Relay for Life event. Even though the 10th Annual Lauderdale County relay ended just more than a week ago, representatives with the society are continuing to get the word out about cancer, the diseases that are characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells.
The largest source of funds for cancer research, aside from the federal government, is the American Cancer Society, said Allison Terrell, communications and marketing director for the American Cancer Society.
With those funds, the society has four primary areas of focus: research, education, service and advocacy.
