Dement, Johnston

Laura Newell Johnston and John Scott Dement, both of Meridian, were married Saturday, June 5, 2004, in a ceremony in Rosemary Beach, Fla., with the Rev. William Robertson officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mrs. Frederick Fatheree Johnston Jr. and the late Dr. Johnston of Highland Park, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. John Ernest Dement of Meridian.
Mrs. Dement is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T.J. White of Meridian, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Fatheree Johnston Sr. of Enterprise.
Mr. Dement is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James H. Dement, and James F. Snowden of Meridian and the late Helen Snowden.
The bride was given in marriage by her brothers, Thomas Clayton Johnston and Lee Frederick Johnston.
She wore a formal white gown of French netting with a pleated bodice that fell to a dropped waistline and cascaded into a full circular skirt. She wore a short veil of silk illusion.
Kathleen Marie Johnson of Dallas served as maid of honor.
Flower girls were the bride's nieces, Margaret Anne Johnston and Elyssa Johnston.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Ring bearer was the bride's nephew, Benjamin Johnston.
Laura is a graduate of Highland Park High School and received her bachelor's degree from Kenyon College and a graduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Scott is a graduate of Meridian High School and the University of Mississippi.
Following a honeymoon to Colorado, the couple will reside in Meridian.
