Don't forget the rain suit and towels if you plan on playing golf this weekend.
Area tournaments slated, weather permitting, include the Bill Davis Fourth of July Tournament at Northwood Country Club.
The four-day match play tournament begins on Friday and finishes on Monday.
The four-ball event opens with a qualifying round Friday. After the field is flighted (16 teams per flight) following the first 18 holes, match play begins on Saturday with one match per team scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Teams surviving until Monday could play two rounds in both consolation and championship divisions of each flight.
Dan Angero and Jimmy Carle are the defending champions.
In other area tournaments, Philadelphia Country Club will host a three-person scramble, Saturday-Sunday. For more information, contact Joe Rush Jr. at 656-4066 (day) or 656-3900 (night) or Jason Fulton at 656-6000 (day) or 656-1310 (night).
Newton Country Club will host a two-person scramble, Sunday-Monday. Entry fee is $25 per person. For more information, contact Joel Nelson at 635-5878 (home) or 683-3101 (work), Clay Chapman at 683-3422 (home) or 683-3351 (work), or Jay Powell at 282-0817.
Statewide, the Pros of Tomorrow will be held at Tupelo Country Club, Monday-Wednesday, while the U.S. Junior Amateur will be at Windance Country Club at Gulfport on Wednesday.
