Swimmers from around the state will come to Highland Park this weekend to participate in the State Games of Mississippi/Meridian Invitation Swim Meet.
Around 200 swimmers are expected for the meet which will be held today, Saturday and Sunday. The meet is hosted by the Meridian Swim Association and will consist of a short course and long course competition.
According to Meridian Swim Association coach Kyle Wilson, the meet is a big one for his swimmers.

The meet is also the final official event for the 2004 State Games of Mississippi. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three swimmers in each event.
The short course events will get underway this morning at 8:15. Swimmers 10-years-old and younger will compete in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and fly events along with relays and individual medley. The short course event will consist of 72 different events.
In the afternoon, the long course meet will begin at 3:15 with some of the longer distance swim events. There will be 12 events on Friday afternoon.
The long course meet will continue on Saturday with 24 events in the morning and 38 events in the afternoon session.
On Sunday, swimmer will compete in a morning session and an afternoon session to close out the 130-event meet.
