Center Hill Community Development Club met June 21 at the community center for its regular meeting.
President Rip Crocker presided and welcomed everyone to the meeting. Gloria Hughes gave the devotion.
The program was given by the Rev. Wallace Terry, a retired United Methodist pastor. He discussed life's lessons and his observations about life. He emphasized the importance of using time wisely; to be an encouragement to people; tell someone they did a good job; and to keep up the good work; and think positively.
Gloria Hughes, 4-H leader, reported that in the recent county photography contest, Justin Lucky was a second place winner in the junior black and white category. In the senior black and white division, Summer Luckey placed, first, second and third. Summer also was the first and second place division winner in the senior color division. There were 77 entries in the contest and they were on exhibit at the Meridian Museum of Art.
Crocker displayed a weather radio and urged members to purchase one. They are available in different price ranges, and could possibly save one's life if severe weather threatened in the middle of the night.
Leon and Prue Bailey received the Yard of the Month award.
It was announced that plans were made for the annual Sponsor Appreciation Supper on July 19 at the community center.
The meeting was adjourned with the recitation of The Pledge of Allegiance.
