Meridian defeats Itawamba

WEST POINT Meridian High School took a 12-11 eight-inning win over Itawamba to advance out of pool play and into the eight-team, single-elimination portion of the Dizzy Dean High School World Series.
Clark Bullock singled in Walton Mitts, who had earlier singled, to give Meridian the win. Tyler McMullen picked up the win on the mound.
Meridian now takes on Dalton (Ga.) at Oak Hill Academy today at 4 p.m. If Meridian wins, they will lay again at 7 p.m.

Cordera Eason and Chris Harris combined for seven hits to help Meridian High School top Oak Hill Academy 14-3 on Friday afternoon.
The win sent the Wildcats to the Pool H championship game at the Dizzy Dean High School World Series.
Eason blasted his third home run in as many games for Meridian and also collected a double and a triple. Harris went 4-for-4 with a triple and a double, and also tallied five RBIs.
Anthony Thomas picked up the win for the Wildcats, who needed only five innings to win on the 10-run rule.
