With veteran drivers Jimbo McDuffie and Mike Boland in hot pursuit, Jeffery Walker led from start to finish as he placed first in the Late Model feature race Saturday at the Queen City Speedway.
McDuffie's No. 760 car and Walker's No. 0 car are owned by Randy Thompson, who also owns two other cars that compete at Queen City.
Actually McDuffie's battle for second place with Boland was a lot closer than their chances of overtaking Walker.
Walker said he kept looking ahead and not at what was coming from behind him.
In other divisions:
Pure Street Division: Jason Boleware took the lead after 10 laps and held on for victory. Mitchell Moffett led most of the race but went out with mechanical problems. Josh Beech came in second followed by David Minor.
Mini Stock Division: Steve Bryant took first place in the Mini Stock Division, followed by Bill Bunyard and Billy Ward.
Late Model Stocks: Ray Windham had control of this race from start to finish as he took the checkered flag. Terry Mosely finished second followed by Phillip Carlisle.
Modified Division: Owen Bryan started in front and finished in front in the Modified Division. Bryan was followed by Brian Chaney in second place and Andy Pippin in third place.
Cruiser Division: The X-2 car of Holly Thrash and Bishop roared to victory in the Cruiser Division. Ben and Ronnie Holloman, who have dominated the division during the past month, placed second while Alan Pierce and Robert Bryant came in third.
Racing action returns to Queen City next Saturday night. On July 24, the speedway will hold kids' bike races.
