The Clarkdale High School Bulldogs will be playing some familiar opponents at the start of the 2004 football season.
And they will be looking for some big crowds too, with their first two home games being played on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs will host cross-county rival West Lauderdale on Aug. 26 the first of two Thursday night games. After a short ride to Enterprise the following Friday night, they will be back home for a Thursday game on Sept. 9 to play rival Southeast Lauderdale.
The Bulldogs have been working hard on the weights this summer and assistant coach Joey Etheridge says everyone is looking forward to the first week of practice in August.
Long-time Enterprise football coach Jud Gartman will be in his first season as Clarkdale's head football coach. Gartman was an assistant coach at Lamar School last season. Gartnan worked with the team during spring training last year and was impressed with the team's speed.
After closing the non-division schedule on the road at Mercy Cross on Sept. 17 and at Heidelberg on Sept. 24, the Bulldogs open their division schedule on the road at Lake.
Clarkdale will play two division games in a row at home as the Bulldogs take on Williams-Sullivan on Oct. 8 and Philadelphia on Oct. 15. Clarkdale plays at Kemper on Oct. 22, and then the Bulldogs close the regular season at home against Newton on Oct. 29.
