Clarke County festival set for next month

QUITMAN Organizers are taking applications for vendors and arts and crafts booths at the 15th Annual Clarke County Forestry and Wildlife Festival, set for Oct. 2 at the Archusa Water Park.
The festival is sponsored by the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce in an effort to promote forests for economic development and to showcase the area's natural scenic beauty, outdoor recreational facilitates and abundant wildlife.
Planned activities include a children's play area, carnival games, pony rides, climbing wall, hay bale express, clowns, face painting and food.
Applications are also being taken for the Fall Festival Pageant and Talent Show. Pageant divisions are Babies: newborn to 12 months; Tiny Miss: 1 to 3 years; Petite Miss: 4 to 6 years; and Little Miss 7 to 10 years. Pageant entry fee is $25 and an extra optional photogenic fee of $10.
Talent show age divisions are newborn to 10 years, 11 to 15 years and 16 and over. Entry fee is $10.
H.C. Watkins Hospital will be conducting free blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings and blood sugar screenings, and the Lions Sight Van will be on site to conduct free eye and vision screenings.
