Services for Barbaree Grant Rosenbaum will be held today at 11 a.m. at Temple Beth Israel with Rabbi Barry Altman officiating. Burial will be in the Temple's Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rosenbaum, 88, of Meridian, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, in her home. She was a member of Temple Beth Israel. She was active in their Sisterhood, Meridale Girls Scout Council where she was a past president. She was a volunteer at LOVE's Kitchen, a member of the Earnest Workers Circle at King's Daughters and Sons Rest Home. She was an avid bridge and duplicate bridge player.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbaree Heaster and Pauline Strasser; sisters, Frances Lucy of York, Ala. and Lil Foard of Duncanville, Texas; grandchildren, Simon Richard Strasser, Joseph Strasser, Aaron Strasser and Lewis Heaster; great-grandchildren, Dylan Strasser, Simon Heaster and Sarah Heaster.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sy Rosenbaum and a brother, Warren Grant.
Memorials may be made to Temple Beth Israel at P.O. Box 3456 Meridian or The Key Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Pallbearers will be Bo Bennett, Rick Barry, Robert Ward, Alvin Barr, Warren Grant, Fred Grant and Greg Merritt. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Loeb, A.L. Cahn and Alfred Rosenbaum.
Homemaker
PHILADELPHIA Services for Nettie Russell will be held today at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Union. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Russell, 96, of Little Rock, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Hilltop Manor Nursing Home in Union.
Survivors include her daughters, Ann Rucker and Gertrude McKinion, both of Little Rock; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Odell Russell.
Retired U.S. Army
Graveside services for King Edward Braggs will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. David Chandler officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Braggs, 62, of Meridian, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004, at Allied Health Center in Meridian. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served three tours in Vietnam. He retired after more than 22 years and spent many years Germany. He will be remembered for his special love for animals. He will also be remembered for his love of baking.
Survivors include his daughter, Christina Stanberry of Richmond, Va.; special friends, Rose E. Lenton, Sandra Jones, Sharon Lenton, Rodurick Stennis and his wife, Mary, Ernest Lenton and Quincy Lenton, all of Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Johnie Truman and Elnora Braggs Grace and his parents, Mattie and Jack Braggs.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be members of the Military Honor Guard.
City of Meridian employee
Services for C.J. Willis will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Enterprise Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Odell Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Yantly, Ala.
Mr. Willis, 63, of Meridian, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, in his home.
Survivors include his mother, Eunice Moody of Meridian.
Visitation will be held today from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Retired
Services for Frank Nicholson will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Herman Baptist Church in York, Ala. with the Rev. S.M. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Clark's Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Nicholson, 89, of Cuba, Ala., died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Guardian Angel Hospice.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Nicholson of Cuba, Ala.; sons, Dennis Nicholson and Bailey Nicholson, both of Youngstown, Ohio, Webster Nicholson of Cuba; daughters, Kathy Heard of Buffalo, N.Y. and Martha Carlisle of Cuba; sisters, Maude Hooks of Youngstown, and Beatrice Walker of Birmingham, Ala.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Emma Nicholson and five siblings.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
