You can hear the excitement in the voices of the people involved in LOVE's Kitchen Lauderdale Outreach and Volunteer Effort Inc. From board members and the executive director to staff and volunteers, they are fired up about their new building.
They heard more good news during a luncheon Wednesday to update everybody about the building plans and progress.
One of the biggest pieces of news that board members shared was the expansion of the building by 10 feet, a result of more financial donations than originally expected.
A variety of business and local government officials attended the luncheon held at Weidmann's Square restaurant.
LOVE's Kitchen is a nonprofit charitable organization formed for the express purpose of feeding the hungry in Meridian and Lauderdale County. It serves breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday.
LOVE's Kitchen also serves many meals to needy people and families at South Harbor Shelter and Friendship Center, as well as the homebound or elderly.
LOVE's Kitchen always welcomes volunteers and financial support. The board members present said they have been overwhelmed with the amount of support and encouragement from the Meridian and Lauderdale County area. They thanked the community for its support but said more donations are always needed and would certainly be appreciated.
Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to volunteer or donate to LOVE's Kitchen. To get involved, call 485-9270 or 604-2478.
