More than 200 hotel rooms have been booked for the Mississippi Association of Supervisors Government Workshop scheduled in Meridian on Monday through Wednesday.
Lauderdale County is hosting the event that is expected to attract about 250-300 people, including county supervisors, comptrollers and road managers from across the state. Some are expected to bring their spouses.
The Mississippi Association of Supervisors was established in 1928. The organization holds several conferences each year.
The association promotes the state's counties, fosters an exchange of ideas between counties and creates and promotes fellowship and understanding among the counties and people of Mississippi.
The association has several standing committees, including legislative, resolutions and finance.
Tony Green, Lauderdale County administrator, said the first day of the event will include a workshop for county administrators and comptrollers. The second day will have a workshop for county road managers.
Those attending the workshop are scheduled to register Monday afternoon. A reception is planned that evening at Union Station. Meetings will be held at Mississippi State University-Meridian Campus.
On Tuesday, the visiting officials will have a chance to tour Meridian or play golf at Naval Air Station Meridian. A dance is planned for Wednesday evening. Rooms are available at the Holiday Inn Express, Quality Inn and Baymont Inn &Suites.
