Bridget Elaine Kennedy and John Leopold Purdy, both of Meridian, were married Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Elvin Sunds officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L. Kennedy, and Dr. and Mrs. James J. Purdy, all of Meridian.
Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Herbert A. McKee of Meridian, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Arlie Kennedy of Muscatine, Iowa.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sabatini of Almont, Mich., and James C. Purdy of Meridian and the late Francis Mary Purdy.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Eddie Nobles, organist; Peyton Palmer Long Hutchinson and Sister Andre Burkhart, vocalists; Sue Shoffiet, flautist; and Ronald Widener, trumpeter.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a white strapless satin gown featuring embroidery of pearls and crystal beading. The full skirt swept into a train featuring a lace and beaded overlay. Her fingertip-length veil of silk illusion was anchored by a pearl tiara. She carried a bouquet of ivory and blush roses.
Kimberly L. Kennedy of Meridian was maid of honor. Other attendants were Sherry Annmarie Purdy Acton, Francine Rose Purdy Farrar, Jamie Lee Purdy, Jennifer Hester Russell, Molly Ann Rutherford, Jessica Renee Simpson, Anne Clay Archer and Allison Lee Ulmer, all of Meridian, Mary Katherine Lutz of Canton, Anna Eleanor Burris of Columbus and Beni Jo Haynie of Corinth.
Jennifer Lynn Curtis of Almont, Mich., served as flower girl. Honorary bridesmaid was Stacy Barton Kent of Moorestown, N.J.
Best men were Lee Kirkpatrick Rogers and Douglas Leon Jones. Groomsmen and ushers were Chadwick Ralph Acton, Mark Revere Davis, Donald Jason Farrar, David Marshall Gilmore Jr., Jason Benjamin Harman, Dustin Joseph Hill, Charles Russell Purdy II and John Robert Rea, all of Meridian, James Charles Purdy II of New Orleans and Thomas Leo Schoen of Almont.
Branson Rhett Acton of Meridian was ring bearer.
Lectors were William Dolph Barton III, David Ray Brawner and James John Purdy.
Program attendants were Mary Lela Valentine and Mary Kathryn Gilmore, both of Meridian.
A reception was held in the church family life center following the ceremony.
After a honeymoon in St. Martin, the couple resides in Flowood.
