NEWTON Services for Sandra Stokes will be held today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. Tod Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stokes, 54, of Conehatta, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, in her home. She graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center as a registered nurse.
Survivors include her husband, David Stokes of Conehatta; a son, Derrick Stokes of Clinton; a daughter, Candice Stokes of Pensacola,Fla.; a sister, Elenor Wansley and her husband, Charles, of Decatur; brothers, John L. Loper of Union and Clyde O. Loper and his wife, Genell, of Conehatta; a sister-in-law, Earline Loper of Petal and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Edna Loper and a brother, F.C. Loper.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church Building Fund.
Pallbearers will be Dan Baxter, Danny Stokes, Don Terrell, Doug Hollingsworth, Randy Loper, David Wansley, John Earl Loper and Chris Loper.
Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the church.
Services for Elizabeth Ann Conard will be held today at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Conard, of Meridian, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was a retired librarian for Orlando Public Library and the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Survivors include her sister, Vera Conard Downs of Meridian and a brother, Linford W. Conard Jr. and his wife, Mallene, of Meridian and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Linford Winfield Conard Sr. and Minnie Lee Wilson Conard.
Pallbearers will be Lindy Conard, Rick Landers, Jerry McCay, Terry James, Patrick Conard and Parker Smith.
PHILADELPHIA Services for Alvin Myers will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Mike Smithey and Mark Cloys officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mr. Myers, 79, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Veterans Medical Center in Jackson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Myers of Philadelphia; a daughter, Pamela Russell of Columbia, S.C.; two granddaughters; sisters, Gladys Culberson of Moss Point, Ruthie Mae Warren, Ann Bridges and Shelby Parker, all of Philadelphia and a brother, Edward Myers of Philadelphia.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lamar Myers.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at Clarke's Memorial Funeral Home for Manuel W. Dukes, Sr., 73, of Meridian, who died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, in his home.
