Mississippi native Kenneth Williams plans to visit Southeast Lauderdale Middle School today to teach students about the importance of physical activity for a healthy lifestyle.
Williams, a native of Corinth, continues to progress on his 400-mile run down the Natchez Trail as part of the "Step With It! Mississippi" initiative.
His run is a part of the national stepometer program. "Step With It!" is designed to teach young people a fun way to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.
Williams is running to raise money to support physical education programs in Boys &Girls Clubs. He hopes to raise $100,000 for the Mississippi Boys &Girls clubs for physical fitness programs.
The "Step With It!" program, developed by Coca-Cola in partnership with the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, challenges youth to take at least 10,000 steps a day to maintain good health.
Students at Southeast Lauderdale will receive "stepometers," small pedometers to help them track how many steps they take each day.
