This is a special feature introducing the musicians of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra. The public can see the orchestra in concert on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. in Meridian Community College's McCain Theater.
Clif Taylor is currently principal trombone in the Meridian Symphony Orchestra. A native of Biloxi, he resides in Wiggins with his wife, Charlotte, and children, Clifton, 8, and Evelyn, 5.
A former University of Southern Mississippi student in the late 1980s, Taylor obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees before working toward his doctorate from the University of South Carolina.
In addition to teaching at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College since 1997, Taylor performs in jazz and rock settings around the state. As a band director, he plays all the wind and percussion instruments.
Taylor has played trombone for 24 years.
John Schuesselin has been a member of the trumpet section of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra since 1999. Born in Greenville, Ohio, he now lives in Oxford, where he serves as assistant professor of music at the University of Mississippi.
Outside the classroom, Schuesselin enjoys family life with wife, Nancy, and son, Mack. Tennis is a special hobby.
Mahler and Bruckner are among his favorite composers.
