Jail bids pass at meeting

The new Franklin County Jail project made more progress at Tuesday's county commission meeting, with three bids being approved for various work at the jail site.
The commission approved bids from L.W. Fritts Construction, Southeastern Laundry Equipment Company, and North Alabama Paving for sewage work, washers and dryers, and initial paving, respectively.
Also, the commission authorized chairman Mike Green to sign any documentation with utility departments for rights of easement in connection with the new jail site.
Sheriff Larry Plott praised the local utilities companies for being so cooperative and helpful during the county's efforts to get utilities to the jail site.
