Bogue Chitto ends Union's slow-pitch season

Bogue Chitto rallied from a one-game deficit to eliminate Class 1A defending state champion Union in the South State championship series Tuesday at Bogue Chitto.
Union won the opener 5-4 before the Lady Bobcats took 10-4 and 8-4 wins in the next two games.
Union finished 27-9, while Bogue Chitto (27-10) advanced to the 1A state championship Saturday in Jackson against the Myrtle-Ingomar series winner which was rained out Tuesday.
In the first game, Union's Loren Kennedy singled home Deann Cleveland with the winning run in the top of the seventh inning after Bogue Chitto had pulled even at 4-4 on a solo homer by Latoya Braxton in the bottom of the fifth.
Winning pitcher Chasity Yates (23-7) had a single and a triple for Union, while Kennedy had a pair of singles.
Union had eight hits to 10 for Bogue Chitto. The Lady Bobcats committed five errors, while Union had none.
The Lady Jackets scored twice in both the second and fourth frames.
Chelsey Miller had two singles and a double for Bogue Chitto. Dory Hall and Brynna Wallace both had two singles. Braxton (14-7) took the loss.
Bogue Chitto scored five runs in the top of the second inning in the second game in evening the series. Both teams scored three runs in the fifth inning.
Kennedy had three singles for Union. Morgan Milling, Amechia Hickmon, and Paige Holsen each had a pair of singles.
Hall had two singles and a double for the Lady Bobcats. Candace Avants had a single and a double and Miller had three singles. Braxton, Wallace, and Meleah Brown each had a pair of singles.
Braxton (15-7) got the win with Yates (23-8) taking the loss. Bogue Chitto outhit Union 17-15.
In the third game, Union grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a two-run double by Tiffany Thomas.
Bogue Chitto took a 3-2 lead with three runs in the bottom of the third.
The Lady Bobcats padded their lead with four more runs in the fourth. Two scored on a home run by Wallace.
Trailing 8-2, Union picked up two runs in the top of the seventh.
Kennedy had two singles for Union, while Thomas had a double.
Bogue Chitto had four singles from Miller and two singles from Brown.
Braxton (16-7) got the win with Yates (23-9) taking the loss.
