MSU downs USM in three
HATTIESBURG Mississippi State University's volleyball team handed Southern Miss its second-straight loss, sweeping the Lady Eagles in three games (30-24, 30-25, 30-22). Southern Miss fell to 5-13, while Mississippi State improved to 12-10.
Jazzmien Stephens and Morgan Johnson led the Lady Eagle offensive attack with eight kills each.
Rachel Cooper led the Bulldogs with a match-high 15 kills on an error-free hitting night, finishing with a .536 attack percentage.

Ole Miss takes match over Memphis
OXFORD Ole Miss (10-10, 2-6 SEC) found out how tough it was on Tuesday, digging down deep to fight off a surging Tiger team as the Lady Rebels evened the season record with a 3-2 (30-27, 19-30, 30-25, 21-30, 15-13) win over Memphis (20-5, 5-0 C-USA).
Elena Garcia led the Lady Rebels on the night, coming up with 14 kills to lead the Ole Miss offense. Kristen Carroll added 12 kills while Tricia Eble notched 11 kills on the night. Jennifer McGowan came up big defensively for the Lady Rebels along with Tara Langley, as the duo dug 10 and 14 balls respectively.

USM Black-Gold game set for Saturday
HATTIESBURG The Southern Miss annual Black-Gold Game will be played as part of the University's Homecoming activities on Saturday at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field, starting at 11 a.m. The public is invited at no charge.
Southern Miss returns 15 letterwinners and seven redshirts, including four starting position players, two starting pitchers, and five bullpen pitchers from last year's squad that finished 45-19 overall and was runner-up in the regular-season and in the tournament. Southern Miss traveled to LSU to participate in the Baton Rouge Regional.

UWA wranglers come home
LIVINGSTON, Ala. After three rodeos of the 2004-2005 season, the University of West Alabama women's team currently stands first in the Ozark Region with 440 points, while the Tiger men stand fifth in the Region.
The Tiger Wranglers are currently preparing for the annual UWA College Rodeo Showdown to be held on Thursday-Friday in Livingston with nightly performances beginning at 7:30 p.m.
