Space is still available for two customer service seminars Wednesday, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., in Kahlmus Auditorium at Mississippi State University-Meridian Campus.
Mike Thompson, professor of marketing at Delta State University and a certified customer service trainer, will conduct the free sessions, which last two hours each. The seminars are funded by the city of Meridian and Lauderdale County.
Doc Braswell, business specialist with MSU-Meridian, has been instrumental in bringing Thompson to Meridian since 2002.
Thompson's seminars, which focus on improving basic customer and co-worker relations, are geared toward health care providers, restaurant workers, bankers and students.
Braswell said raising a region's customer service level is an important part of overall economic development. He said 300 people attended two seminars held last Wednesday.
Ken Storms, chief administrative officer for the city of Meridian, said city and county officials, and some local industries, decided to participate in the seminars as part of an effort to help bolster the region's image.
